Objective and Conference Themes
The concept of sustainability has been an essential concept in our efforts to maintain our planet flourishing for the future generations. Sustainability is too often about maintaining the current environments and use of nature going longer. The Oxford Dictionary definition of sustainability is “the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level – avoidance of the depletion of natural resources to maintain an ecological balance.” The concept of sustainability has generally focused on extending the longevity of natural resources to maintain economic growth. In tourism sector, many efforts have been done and it should be continued. However, there is still a question – how long we can “sustain” things as they are? We may need to thing beyond sustainability for our tourism futures.
The objective of the conference are to provide a forum for researchers to exchange research results and information in tourism, and to facilitate the sharing experiences and the building of network among tourism practitioners and policy makers for further collaboration in research and networking of tourism worldwide, in order to promote appropriate paradigm of tourism futures towards sustainable tourism and beyond.
